An access log is a text file containing a complete report on all of the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All of the files that were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script application and a website visitor opens just the home page, for example, you may find many files inside the log. The reason is that there are elements on the home page which are embedded - parts of other pages, graphics, etcetera. These files shall be listed within the access log, so that you can get a full picture of the way your site works. The data is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes described as "raw data" as well. An access log contains the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, Internet browser and OS. More information, such as the referrer site, is sometimes included as well. A log file can be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats generated by your website hosting server.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting
When you choose one of our cloud website hosting solutions, you shall get detailed access logs for all of your sites. Once you sign in to your Hepsia CP, you can go to the Access/Error Logs section in which you will see a complete list of the domain names and subdomains you have added or created in the hosting account. You will simply have to click on the On button, that's located on the right-hand side of every hostname and our cloud platform shall start generating logs right away. To disable this function, you'll need to follow the same exact steps and click on the Off button. The domains and subdomains can be managed separately and anytime. You can find a download link within the Logs section of the CP for any log generated by our system, allowing you to save the file to your computer and view it or use it with some log processing software.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it shall not take more than several clicks to enable the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function may be permitted via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this could be done individually for each domain name or subdomain which you have within your account. When you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll see a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. A single click shall trigger the log generation and a second one shall disable it, so you can control this function with great ease. A Download link inside the same section will permit you to save the compiled content as a text file, that you can then use on your laptop or computer. Whether or not the logs are deactivated, you shall still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
